Planet designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in history, delivering unprecedented geospatial datasets to commercial, environmental, and humanitarian sectors. The Defense and Intelligence pillar is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to build robust systems and integrate with key federal partners. You will develop next-generation global monitoring applications that power Planet's growth, working on highly visible systems that enhance how users access geospatial datasets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Participate in the entire engineering lifecycle from concept through implementation
- Own the quality and availability of mission-critical systems
- Contribute to architecture, infrastructure, and process improvements
- Design and develop scalable backend services and frontend applications
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate complex customer requirements
Required qualifications:
- 6-8 years of industry experience
- Fluency in Golang, Python, and PostgreSQL or related technologies
- Full-stack application development experience (database, services, web)
- Frontend application development in React
- Infrastructure-as-code experience
- Logging, alerting, and monitoring tools expertise
Desirable qualifications include AWS/GCP infrastructure experience, systems with many integrations, and geospatial technology background.
This is a full-time remote position based in the United States. If located near an office (San Francisco, Washington DC, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, or The Netherlands), you are expected to work from that office 3 days per week. The role requires access to export-controlled information and ITAR compliance.
