Speechify is the leading platform for converting written content into audio, enabling users to listen to articles, documents, and books at their own pace. The company is experiencing exponential growth and operates at the intersection of AI and audio technology. The Core Experiences Team builds and maintains foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify's product across platforms. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll work at the intersection of product and infrastructure, designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly enhance user experience. Key responsibilities include: - Collaborating with Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across different product teams - Delivering solutions via cross-platform SDK - Optimizing existing functionality to ship faster loading times and more intelligent parsing through efficient abstractions and algorithm improvements - Shipping cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin Ideal candidates demonstrate systems thinking with an end-to-end design mindset and appreciation for simplicity. You work quickly to generate ideas and options, knowing which things can ship now versus what needs time. You thrive in a high-growth startup environment with a distributed team, balancing engagement with focused heads-down work. You collaborate effectively with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers. Preferred tech stack includes Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience acceptable but role focuses on Kotlin Multiplatform) and prior GCP experience is a plus. The role offers a fast-growing environment where you can shape the company and product, an entrepreneurial team that supports risk and hustle, hands-off management, and the opportunity to impact a transformative industry. You'll work on a life-changing product used by millions, directly supporting people with learning differences including dyslexia, ADD, low vision, and autism.
