You will be a Senior Software Engineer with deep backend expertise (5+ years) responsible for developing complex applications end-to-end. Your responsibilities include:
• Lead features from conception through classroom deployment: collaborate with product and design to understand problems, architect solutions, build them, measure results, and iterate based on feedback.
• Design and evolve the services and APIs that power the teacher experience, focusing on domain modeling, architecture, consistency, and performance.
• Ensure production reliability and observability: manage incidents, improve monitoring, and drive structural improvements.
• Participate in full-stack development across the entire platform.
• Visit classrooms quarterly to see your work in action and understand the real-world impact of what you build.
Current priorities include scaling the platform for new US school district integrations (rostering, bulk data imports, multi-region support) and expanding teacher tools for understanding student learning.
You excel with complex end-to-end product delivery and have strong backend fundamentals: APIs, data modeling, asynchronous patterns, and SQL. You're proficient in PHP (Symfony) and/or Python (FastAPI) and know when to use each. You've applied hexagonal architecture, DDD, TDD, and CQRS in production and understand their trade-offs. You embrace AI agents in your development workflow while maintaining quality and best practices. You have a product engineer mindset—genuinely interested in users and solving their problems—and care deeply about production behavior, not just passing tests. You're a collaborative team player who elevates those around you.
