Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, offering buy-now-pay-later solutions without hidden fees or compounding interest. The Money Movement & Card Ledger team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and maintain the systems that manage money movement, bank data integration, and merchant data. Affirm Card is the company's newest financial product combining debit card functionality with access to Affirm's financing options. You will own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve complex, open-ended problems while ensuring team support throughout delivery. You'll collaborate closely with product management, design, and analytics teams during ideation, articulating technical constraints and partnering on decisions that balance risks and trade-offs. You'll proactively identify and lead solutions for project, process, technology, and business issues. You'll support operations and availability of your team's systems by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues when needed, and participating in on-call efforts. You'll foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards, advocating for them across teams through writing and tech talks. You'll help develop talent on your team through feedback, guidance, and leading by example. The role requires 4+ years designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin. You should have a track record building highly available distributed systems with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes. You'll define technical plans for significant features with elegant, simple, extensible designs, write high-quality code easily understood by others, and make significant changes safely in large codebases. You take ownership of your growth, seek feedback proactively, and communicate effectively with global engineering teams. A Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience is required.
