Valon is building an AI-native operating system for regulated finance, starting with mortgage servicing. As a Series C company backed by a16z, Valon has taken a unique approach: rather than building on legacy systems, they operate their own mortgage servicing business managing $110+ billion in loans. This deep operational understanding informs their software platform, ValonOS, which has transformed mortgage servicing from 0% to 60%+ margins while improving customer experience.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll join a team of exceptional engineers from Stripe, Jane Street, Meta, and Google to power the software ecosystem disrupting the mortgage industry. Your responsibilities include:
- Learning new concepts and technologies quickly to solve complex problems
- Designing and building robust, extensible infrastructure to handle evolving federal, state, and agency regulations
- Understanding the inner workings of a highly complex, regulated industry
- Working cross-functionally with Product and Design to define optimal customer experiences
You'll have significant autonomy to learn quickly, execute effectively, and deliver high business impact. The tech stack includes Python, React, Docker, Kubernetes, and Google Cloud Platform.
Ideal candidates bring 4+ years of software engineering experience building quality applications at scale, with strong cross-functional communication skills. Experience with web/mobile development, large-scale distributed systems, or infrastructure management is valued. You'll thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with excellent time management and problem-solving abilities.
