BigHat Biosciences is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their engineering team and own significant areas of their cloud-based platform for therapeutic antibody design and testing. This is a subject-matter expert role where you'll lead epics end-to-end, shape architecture and engineering practices, and work closely with engineers, product partners, and laboratory scientists to build internal software systems at the center of their science.
Key responsibilities include: leading projects from PRD through implementation, testing, and validation; owning one or more major platform areas as a cross-team resource; taking on 0-to-1 work with novel solutions; translating lab workflows into reliable software; operating engineering processes like PRD reviews and code approvals; owning quality and production outcomes; driving technical depth across codebase and infrastructure; designing high-quality full-stack software (front-end and back-end); leading technical design reviews; writing and maintaining automated tests; running code reviews; diagnosing complex production issues; and improving engineering practices and documentation.
You should have a track record of owning features and epics end-to-end in production environments, be an SME in at least one significant technical area, work highly independently while initiating necessary collaborations, balance development and architecture effectively, communicate clearly about progress and tradeoffs, and be motivated by building software for complex scientific work. Experience requirements: 7+ years of professional software engineering with demonstrated end-to-end ownership, OR 5+ years with prior biotech, life sciences, laboratory, or scientific software experience.
Relevant technologies include TypeScript, React, Material-UI, Vega, Python 3, SQLAlchemy, RESTful API design, AWS (CDK, Lambda, Step Functions, ECS/Batch, Fargate, API Gateway, Athena), PostgreSQL, Pandas, and optionally PyTorch or other ML frameworks.
