Otter is a software platform that helps restaurants succeed in online food delivery. The company serves major brands like Chick-fil-A, Ben & Jerry's, KFC, and Eataly, enabling them to increase sales, reduce order issues, and streamline delivery operations. In this Senior Software Engineer role, you'll build and evolve Otter Insights, a data-intensive analytics product that helps restaurateurs answer critical business questions: "How's my business doing?", "What should I focus on today?", and "What do I owe for taxes?" You'll own full-stack product features end-to-end, working with React/TypeScript frontends, GraphQL APIs, and close collaboration with data and platform engineers. Key responsibilities include: - Building data-intensive web applications and dashboards that empower restaurant operators - Shipping full-stack features with ownership from design through launch and iteration - Modernizing the product suite with features like chat-with-data, data storytelling, and scheduled reports - Building reusable frontend components and a no-code Board Maker product for dashboard creation - Ensuring quality and reliability through comprehensive testing (Jest, Cypress) and performance frameworks You'll need 3+ years building production web applications with deep expertise in React and TypeScript, including component architecture, hooks, state management, and data fetching patterns. Experience with analytics or BI products is essential—dashboards, reporting, metrics exploration, or financial/operational reporting. A full-stack mindset is important: you're comfortable consuming and shaping API contracts, debugging data discrepancies, and collaborating across backend and analytics teams. The role values strong engineering fundamentals (ownership, testing discipline, code review culture), product sensibility (understanding restaurateur-facing UX and building trust through data), and excellent collaboration with PM, Design, and Data partners. Nice-to-haves include visualization libraries (Visx, D3, Recharts), Cypress E2E testing, internationalization, product analytics, and data platforms. This is an onsite role in Seattle, five days per week. The company emphasizes close collaboration and continuous innovation in the fast-growing online food delivery space, which has expanded 10X in the US over five years and is projected to reach $500B–$1T by 2030.
