Okta is seeking an experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the Emerging Products Group (EPG), focused on building highly reliable, scalable, and secure cloud services. This role combines infrastructure operations, platform engineering, and software development to enable rapid, safe delivery of world-class cloud services.
Key responsibilities include designing and operating large-scale cloud infrastructure and production services; participating in global on-call rotations supporting highly available customer-facing systems; leading incident response efforts and driving post-incident reviews for systemic improvements; defining and improving Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and error budgets; and partnering with engineering teams to enhance service availability, scalability, performance, and resilience.
The role emphasizes FedRAMP compliance and security mandates, requiring continuous audit readiness and strict adherence to federal compliance standards. You will continuously improve observability through metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards, and alerting.
On the engineering side, you'll develop software and automation using Go, Python, Terraform, and related technologies; eliminate operational toil through automation and tooling; improve deployment safety through CI/CD and GitOps practices; and build self-service platforms and operational guardrails that enhance developer velocity while maintaining reliability and security.
Collaboration is central to the role. You will support complex reliability initiatives spanning multiple engineering teams, guide engineers in adopting operational best practices and reliability engineering principles, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and contribute to modernizing existing workloads.
