Hazelcast's Quality Engineering team is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with deep Java expertise to ensure the highest quality standards for their real-time distributed storage and stream processing platform. You will work alongside expert Java developers to design and execute comprehensive test strategies, develop robust automation frameworks, and maintain rigorous quality benchmarks. Key responsibilities include collaborating with software developers to understand system architecture and create effective test strategies; developing, maintaining, and enhancing automated testing frameworks for both functional and non-functional testing; designing and executing performance, load, stress, and scalability tests to ensure the platform performs reliably under heavy traffic; integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous validation; monitoring test suite health and optimizing test environments; and investigating test failures to diagnose and resolve defects in partnership with developers. You will participate actively in daily standups, story grooming, retrospectives, and code reviews, ensuring code is designed with test automation in mind. The role emphasizes code quality, software craftsmanship, and proactive communication of progress and improvements. Required qualifications: minimum 5 years in Quality Engineering roles; minimum 5 years building test frameworks and testing Java applications; hands-on experience with distributed caching, compute, and streaming systems; proficiency with automation frameworks (JUnit); expertise in non-functional and quality attribute verification; and demonstrated experience with performance benchmarking (latency/throughput), resilience testing (chaos/fuzzing), and scalability testing. Desirable skills include AI/LLM tool experience for quality automation; CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, GitHub Actions); Linux and Bash; containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible); cloud platforms (AWS); vulnerability and compliance tools (SonarQube, OWASP, Trivy, Blackduck); big data storage testing; development frameworks (Spring, Spring Boot, Vert.X, Quarkus); and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline. You should demonstrate a passion for quality and defect prevention, excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, efficient debugging capabilities, ability to work effectively in remote team environments, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Critical thinking, attention to detail, and deep understanding of testing methodologies (unit, integration, regression, performance, load, stress, soak testing) are essential.
