Salary: USD 190,000 - 252,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Research Scientist specializing in target tracking to join their defense technology team. You will contribute to the direction of a talented small team, developing state-of-the-art algorithms and software that solve critical information science problems with real-world military applications. Your work will span from prototyping advanced algorithms in agile environments to implementing high-performance software across tactical systems and web applications.
Key responsibilities include creating mathematically principled solutions to challenging tracking and estimation problems, implementing algorithms in production environments using Rust, C++, and Python, and leveraging high-fidelity modeling and simulation to quantify technology benefits. You will engage directly with government and industry customers to ensure mission-critical success, and communicate complex technical concepts to both expert and non-expert audiences.
Required qualifications include an M.S. or Ph.D. in Applied/Computational Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Controls and Dynamical Systems, Aerospace Engineering, Statistics, or related field. You must have strong coding experience in Rust, C++, and Python, with demonstrated expertise in applied mathematics (differential equations, linear algebra, numerical analysis, optimization), engineering (controls, estimation theory, signal processing, machine learning), scientific computing (software design, algorithm implementation, testing), and probability/statistics.
You must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance.
