Prellis Biologics is seeking a Senior Research Associate or Associate Scientist to join its High-Throughput Antibody Discovery team in Berkeley. The company uses proprietary 3D bioprinting technology to create human lymph node organoids, enabling rapid and diverse discovery of human antibody therapeutic candidates. This role is central to executing and evolving state-of-the-art molecular biology, NGS, and end-to-end automation pipelines that fuel antibody discovery.
Key responsibilities include executing high-throughput molecular biology workflows (plasmid generation, PCR, cloning, mutagenesis, DNA library construction) and building/running end-to-end automation pipelines on liquid handlers (Biomek, KingFisher, or similar). You will execute workflows to probe immune repertoires using single-cell VH-VL molecular recovery, NGS, and single-cell technologies (10x Genomics, CITE-Seq). The role involves contributing to technology innovation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of NGS and molecular discovery platforms, applying antibody repertoire bioinformatics tools to evaluate selection outputs, and collaborating with Data Science on visualization and reporting. You'll maintain accurate ELN documentation, interface with external vendors and CROs (gene synthesis, sequencing services), and support cross-functional collaboration across therapeutic programs.
Required qualifications: BS or MS in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Immunology, or related field with equivalent industry experience (Senior Research Associate: BS + 3–5 years or MS + 0–2 years; Associate Scientist: BS + 5+ years or MS + 2+ years). Strong molecular biology fundamentals including PCR, cloning, mutagenesis, plasmid design, and DNA library construction. Experience with automated liquid handlers or willingness to become proficient. Hands-on experience with sample-to-data NGS workflows on Illumina platforms and single-cell technologies. Genuine curiosity for innovation, strong interpersonal and communication skills, excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
Bonus qualifications include working knowledge of B cell immunology or antibody biology, programming on automated liquid handlers, familiarity with antibody display or directed-evolution systems, prior industry experience in antibody discovery pipelines, flow cytometry cell sorting, and antibody repertoire bioinformatics tools.
