Hades is a deep-tech mining company founded in 2025, developing ultra-deep drilling technologies to enable Europe's access to critical resources and energy independence. Based in Munich and backed by €20M in seed funding from leading European investors (HV Capital, Headline, Project A, Visionaries Tomorrow), the company is building a world-class engineering team.
As a Senior R&D Engineer - Drilling, you will be one of Hades' first drilling engineer hires, playing a pivotal role in developing novel ultra-deep drilling technology. You will conceptualize, design, engineer, and implement breakthrough drilling solutions that make ultra-deep drilling faster and more cost-effective. This is a high-impact role with real influence from day one.
You will collaborate closely with the technical founding team and a multidisciplinary group of engineers, geologists, and scientists to advance drilling capabilities. Your responsibilities include leading and managing drilling R&D projects from conception through completion, applying deep expertise in drilling equipment design and novel drilling techniques.
Required qualifications: minimum 5 years of R&D experience in drilling equipment (preferably HTHP—high temperature, high pressure environments), strong understanding of novel drilling techniques and equipment, demonstrated project leadership in drilling R&D, bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, fluent English communication skills, and willingness to relocate to the Munich area.
