CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Radiation Effects Engineer to lead key aspects of the company's radiation hardness assurance program for satellite, UAV, launch vehicle, and airborne platforms. The role focuses on ensuring products meet stringent radiation performance requirements across LEO and higher-orbit applications.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting radiation environment analysis for space missions across multiple orbital regimes
- Planning, executing, and analyzing radiation testing programs to validate component and system performance
- Developing and implementing radiation risk management strategies
- Contributing to product roadmap decisions based on radiation performance data and industry trends
- Presenting technical findings and engineering design review materials to customers and executive leadership
- Participating in proposal writing and customer engagement efforts
The ideal candidate brings extensive industry experience with modern, cutting-edge semiconductor and component technologies in space applications. Deep knowledge of radiation effects physics, single-event effects (SEE), total ionizing dose (TID), and displacement damage is essential. Strong technical communication skills—both written and verbal—are critical, as the role involves regular customer presentations and cross-functional collaboration.
This is a hands-on position in a dynamic startup environment where you'll work autonomously on high-impact problems while collaborating across engineering, product, and business teams. You'll directly influence the radiation hardness strategy for next-generation space communication systems serving high-volume LEO constellations and beyond.
