LawnStarter is the nation's leading on-demand marketplace for lawn care and outdoor services, with over $100M in annual bookings. The company is expanding beyond lawn care to become a one-stop shop for all home services, operating three brands (LawnStarter, Lawn Love, Home Gnome) on a shared platform.
The Engineering team has spent the last two years rebuilding the platform from the ground up with a new customer app, Pro onboarding, job distribution engine, and data infrastructure. The tech stack is PHP (Laravel) and React/React Native, with Cypress as the primary test framework. Claude Code is actively integrated into the engineering workflow as a core part of how the team works.
As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will own quality strategy and execution across the engineering organization, reporting to the Engineering Manager. This is a hands-on, strategic role that makes quality proactive rather than reactive. You'll be embedded across engineering teams, partnering closely with Product, Design, and Data to catch problems before they reach customers.
Key responsibilities include: designing and growing the E2E and integration test suite using Cypress; owning the full bug lifecycle from triage to production fix; collaborating with cross-functional teams to review requirements and define "done"; identifying and implementing process improvements; and conducting exploratory testing on web and mobile across devices.
You'll solve critical problems: keeping automation coverage sharp as the product evolves into new service verticals, and exploring AI tools to improve quality operations, reduce repetitive work, and discover coverage gaps. Success in year one means strong automation coverage on new features, a smooth and predictable bug process, deep understanding of the marketplace business, and at least one meaningful quality process improvement shipped and adopted by the team.
