Tessera Labs is hiring a Senior QA Engineer to own testing strategy and automation across the full software development lifecycle. This is a strategic, hands-on role focused on building robust test coverage and shifting quality left—not manual click-testing.
You will own the end-to-end test strategy, design and write test cases, and automate them using established open-source tools (Playwright, Cypress, pytest, k6, Locust, etc.). You'll integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines so they run on every meaningful code change, ensuring quality is baked in from the start rather than caught at the end.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining and executing comprehensive test strategy across integration, system, regression, and performance testing
- Writing clear, maintainable test cases and test plans that evolve with the product
- Partnering with developers to define acceptance criteria and make quality a shared responsibility
- Triaging test failures, driving root-cause analysis on escaped defects, and implementing durable fixes
- Reporting quality metrics (coverage, flake rate, escaped defects) in actionable ways
Required qualifications:
- Strong test automation background with proven ability to design and implement test strategies
- Deep understanding of SDLC and testing's role at each stage
- Hands-on experience across multiple testing types (integration, system, regression, stress/performance)
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Strong Python and JavaScript/TypeScript skills
- Familiarity with open-source testing frameworks
- Excellent communication skills and ability to partner effectively with developers
Nice-to-have experience includes testing cloud or containerized (Kubernetes) workloads, SOC 2 compliance support, enterprise/regulated environments, and early-stage startup experience.
In the first 90 days, you'll assess current test coverage, identify high-leverage gaps, get automated tests running in the pipeline, and establish a lightweight process for failure triage and defect prevention.
