BrainPOP, a leading digital learning platform trusted by educators and parents worldwide, is seeking a Senior QA Engineer to join their quality assurance team. Reporting to the Director of Quality Assurance, you will be embedded in a cross-functional squad owning core identity and account systems that power the platform—systems that sit upstream of login, access, and data sync for every user.
In this role, you will own quality for business-critical projects and lead QA efforts for complex, high-stakes initiatives. Your work directly impacts company-level outcomes: faster and more reliable delivery cycles, earlier defect detection, fewer production regressions, and greater confidence in release quality. You'll bring technical expertise and a leadership mindset to drive quality engineering through scalable test automation and API validation, with particular focus on advancing BrainPOP's Playwright-based testing framework.
Key responsibilities include shaping test strategy in partnership with engineering and product leadership; owning and advancing key parts of the test automation ecosystem; partnering with Product, Design, and Engineering to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle; championing quality engineering best practices through documentation and knowledge sharing; and proactively identifying and resolving system issues to ensure releases ship fast and with confidence.
You bring 4–6 years of experience testing complex web-based applications across the full product development lifecycle, with 4–6 years writing and executing automated tests in JavaScript using modern frameworks (Playwright strongly preferred). You have practical experience with AI-assisted tools in testing workflows, and ideally have tested authentication, authorization, identity systems (SSO, OAuth/SAML, session management), or third-party integrations (LMS rostering, CRM, payment processors). You are an articulate communicator with sharp analytical and problem-solving skills, energized by finding and resolving issues before they reach customers, comfortable working with multiple stakeholders, and confident navigating ambiguity while influencing outcomes through reliability and presence.
The role is hybrid, with a preference for candidates within commutable distance of BrainPOP's NYC headquarters who can spend at least one day in the office weekly. Candidates based in the Eastern time zone may also be considered.
