Voyager Technologies, a space, defense, and national security technology company, is seeking a Senior Proposal Writer / Proposal Architect to join its Proposal Development Team in Pittsburgh, PA or remote. You will report to the Director of Proposal Development and be responsible for strategizing, architecting, and writing technical proposals for spacecraft delivery services and spacecraft systems, primarily for government customers including NASA and the Department of War.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing technically credible, convincing, and competitive aerospace proposals for government and civilian customers
- Drafting original content including product descriptions, technical specifications, and performance requirements
- Contributing to proposal win themes, storyboards, and strategic narrative approaches
- Writing executive summaries and other critical proposal sections
- Conducting interviews with subject matter experts to gather technical information
- Converting technical documentation into polished proposal content
- Collaborating with graphic designers on visual representations of technical content
- Assembling, reviewing, and editing proposals for accuracy and compliance
- Addressing feedback from internal and external stakeholders
- Providing guidance to other technical writers on the team
This role is ideal for systems engineers, technical project managers, space scientists, and other high-level technical thinkers interested in applying creative skills to proposal development. Candidates with technical backgrounds may also help engineer technical solutions being bid in proposals.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field (engineering, physical sciences, or related area); relevant advanced degrees, internships, or experiences may substitute for some professional experience
- 5+ years of experience in the aerospace industry or related field
- Basic understanding of spacecraft systems and engineering principles
- Prior experience writing competitive proposals for funding
- Creativity to communicate technical topics through prose and graphics
- High-level strategic thinking to develop compelling technical narratives
- Strong critical thinking skills to identify and correct technical and logical errors
- Excellent writing ability with strong command of grammar, flow, tone, and conciseness
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- High attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines for multiple overlapping projects
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience as a systems engineer, program manager, or project manager in aerospace
- Deep understanding of spacecraft systems and engineering principles
- Experience writing proposals to NASA or the Department of War
Note: This position requires U.S. Person status (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual) and eligibility to obtain export authorizations due to ITAR and EAR compliance requirements.
