Bitwarden, a trusted identity security leader, is establishing an India Engineering Center of Excellence and seeking an experienced Senior Product Owner to lead delivery of Passkeys—a passwordless authentication capability built on FIDO2/WebAuthn standards. In this role, you will own the complete product backlog and day-to-day execution for passkey features spanning creation and registration, sign-in ceremonies, credential storage and syncing, cross-device and cross-platform flows, relying party integrations, account recovery, and associated experiences across vault, browser extension, mobile app, and admin console. Key responsibilities include: - Owning and managing the Passkeys backlog: writing, refining, and prioritizing user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical tasks in collaboration with engineering and product management - Driving sprint planning and backlog grooming with focus on WebAuthn ceremony behaviors, attestation handling, and platform-specific edge cases - Serving as the primary point of contact for engineering during delivery, clarifying requirements for credential creation, cross-device sign-in flows (hybrid transport/QR), conditional UI/autofill, and sync behavior - Partnering with Product Management to translate strategy into well-defined epics, milestones, and sprint-ready work including passwordless onboarding, credential migration, and account recovery - Managing work across multiple product surfaces and platforms while tracking dependencies and maintaining cross-team alignment - Setting and managing delivery timelines with realistic forecasts, early risk surfacing, and clear stakeholder communication - Collaborating with Design, QA, Security, and Compliance to define acceptance criteria supporting secure, reliable, low-friction authentication across diverse devices, browsers, and operating systems - Ensuring requirements account for platform authenticator behavior (Touch ID, Windows Hello, Android biometrics), roaming authenticators, relying party requirements, and fallback paths - Tracking and communicating sprint progress, risks, decisions, and dependency status to leadership - Engaging with customer feedback, support escalations, and enterprise IT stakeholders to refine prioritization and surface unmet workflow needs - Identifying, coordinating, and managing cross-functional dependencies including browser vendor and OS platform WebAuthn implementations and standards updates - Supporting release planning, readiness reviews, launch coordination, and post-release evaluation with attention to cross-browser/cross-platform compatibility - Leveraging AI tools and automation to accelerate discovery, requirements writing, documentation, and delivery workflows The ideal candidate combines strong product-delivery discipline with working understanding of authentication protocols, platform/browser authenticator behavior, and UX tradeoffs in replacing passwords at scale. You should understand software fundamentals relevant to passkeys (public-key cryptography, APIs, data models, authentication vs. authorization, browser/OS credential APIs), core authentication concepts (FIDO2/WebAuthn ceremonies, attestation, discoverable credentials, credential syncing, passwordless account recovery), and cloud-based and self-hosted product considerations.
