Adyen is a global financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products for major merchants including Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. You will join the EMEA payments team as a Senior Product Manager focused on domestic card schemes—the local alternatives to Visa and Mastercard that offer cost advantages and better performance in several markets. This is a key differentiator for merchant retention and acquisition. The schemes are already live and performing well. Your primary challenge will be driving adoption, innovating on payment developments, and stepping up on strategic, cross-payment-method initiatives where senior product leadership sets direction rather than following it. Key responsibilities: - Define vision and roadmap for domestic card schemes and shape the wider payment method portfolio, balancing merchant demand, margin, support load, and market deadlines with clear trade-offs - Manage relationships with scheme operators and partners, including roadmap alignment, specification updates, and escalation handling - Write clear product requirements and partner with engineering on connections, tokenization, Tap to Pay, and authentication flows; deliver time-critical launches with documented plans, owners, and risk logs - Lead strategic, cross-payment-method initiatives from concept to launch as team priorities evolve - Build the commercial case by working with sales, account management, and pricing teams; define and regularly review success metrics including authorization rate, cost, and adoption - Align engineering, in-person payments, e-commerce payments, partner engineering, partnerships, and operations teams; escalate trade-offs to leadership early Adyen values in-person collaboration and is office-first; this role is based in Amsterdam with no remote-only option. Requirements: - 8+ years of product management experience in payments or fintech - Strong understanding of card processing and how schemes, acquirers, hosts, and terminals fit together - Technical credibility: ability to read API and message specifications (ISO 8583 or similar), discuss architecture with engineers, and assess effort and risk independently - Strategic thinking: convert open-ended questions into clear direction and roadmap; willingness to take on topics beyond core area - Strong stakeholder management skills with external partners and schemes; judgment to set expectations and say no - Commercial and data-driven mindset: explain margin, performance, and cost effects of product decisions and measure results - Proven ability to lead through influence across multiple workstreams, markets, and time zones - Clear written communication, including product requirement documents that engineers and stakeholders can act on
