Ashby is hiring Senior Product Managers to report directly to the VP of Product. The company is a best-in-class, all-in-one talent management platform (ATS and beyond) serving companies like Notion, Linear, OpenAI, Shopify, and Snowflake. Growing >100% YoY with exceptional retention metrics, backed by Y Combinator and notable angels.
You will own the roadmap and strategy for one of three product areas:
1. **Outbound Sourcing**: Build a platform enabling teams to hire sourcing agents directly from Ashby. Customers write job descriptions; agents book calls with qualified candidates.
2. **Product Platform**: Establish the shared building blocks, foundational capabilities, and APIs that allow product teams to move quickly. Own the multi-product platform architecture.
3. **AI Platform**: Own the Ashby Assistant, Ashby MCP, and the AI platform used across product surfaces. Drive shared primitives like AI memory and context.
Your responsibilities include:
- Drive impact by deeply understanding customers and shipping impactful product improvements at high velocity
- Apply strong product taste and judgment to deliver solutions that are both powerful and delightful
- Maintain roadmaps, set strategy and vision for 6–18 months, and ensure engineering is never blocked
- Conduct customer research, synthesize feedback and competitive intel, and drive prioritization
- Execute with excellence: identify bottlenecks, scope effectively, drive high-impact releases, stay close to engineering
- Collaborate cross-functionally with go-to-market teams on pricing, marketing, and support
- Own commitments, manage time ruthlessly, communicate proactively
Ashby's product philosophy differs from typical orgs: PMs spend less time writing detailed specs and more time with customers and deep product thinking. Engineers own solutions end-to-end with significant white space in specs. PMs are pace-setters who bring healthy impatience and time-paranoia, manage scope well, and prioritize ruthlessly. The role emphasizes platform thinking, reusable building blocks, and balancing enterprise customizability with ease of use.
Interview process: 30-min intro call, 45-min product experience deep dive, 1-hour product exercise, 2-hour final round with cross-functional team meetings.
**Requirements:**
- Unnatural curiosity and excitement about end-users and their jobs
- Engineering mindset; ability to think through edge cases and extend underlying platforms for leverage
- Strong product taste; care about quality of products built and used
- Excellent writer and synthesizer; bring clarity to the organization and enable engineers with insights
- Ability to build prioritization thesis and communicate strategy combining principled thinking, research, and data
- Leverage tools and processes to build operational excellence
- Strong business sense; understand product-GTM collaboration, monetization, and business priorities
- Comfort with urgency, tradeoffs, and reprioritization when new information emerges
- Preference for deep research and user understanding over outsourcing
- Motivation driven by delivering great product experience, not just metrics
Not a fit if you prefer to specify exactly what engineering should build, dislike written documentation, focus primarily on shipping features over platform capabilities, or are uncomfortable with velocity and change.
