Vitable Health is building a health benefits platform designed to make quality healthcare accessible to the 85+ million uninsured and underinsured Americans. The company helps employers offer real, high-quality healthcare coverage to their teams. As a Senior Product Engineer focused on Integrations, you will design, build, and operate critical integrations that power Vitable's benefits platform. These integrations connect Vitable with payroll providers, HRIS systems, benefits administration platforms, and other third-party systems essential to delivering a seamless benefits experience. Your responsibilities include: - Building and owning integrations with payroll, HRIS, and benefits administration platforms - Developing systems for employee syncing, eligibility updates, dependent management, payroll deduction automation, and enrollment workflows - Taking projects end-to-end from discovery through design, implementation, launch, monitoring, and iteration - Partnering with product, operations, implementation, customer success, sales, and business teams to understand requirements and constraints - Building reliable integration infrastructure with strong guarantees around correctness, idempotency, auditability, observability, and failure recovery - Handling messy real-world data from external systems while maintaining data integrity - Contributing across the stack (primarily backend, but frontend and internal tooling as needed) - Writing clean, maintainable code and maintaining high engineering standards Required experience: 4+ years of professional software engineering, with proven ability to design and operate production backend systems or third-party integrations. You should have experience with APIs, webhooks, file-based integrations, batch jobs, asynchronous workflows, and data synchronization. Strong problem-solving skills, ownership mindset, and cross-functional collaboration experience are essential. Startup or high-growth company experience is a plus, as is domain experience in benefits, HR tech, payroll, healthcare, or fintech. Required technical skills: Strong Python proficiency, backend system design and software architecture expertise, experience integrating with third-party APIs and external systems, ability to design reliable data synchronization workflows, and experience with asynchronous processing and event-driven workflows.
