SandboxAQ is a high-growth AI company delivering Large Quantitative Models (LQMs) that power advances in life sciences, financial services, navigation, cybersecurity, and other sectors. The company emerged from Alphabet Inc. as an independent, growth capital-backed company in 2022.
The Design team is unified across brand, creative, and product, with designers embedded in Business Units. This Senior Product Designer role will initially focus on the AI agentic platform and products, reporting to the VP of Design.
You will define how people build, evaluate, and trust AI agents in an emerging category, making complex technical concepts understandable across both open-source developer products and enterprise control systems. The work is challenging because the category is entirely new, fast-evolving, and crowded, with deeply varied audiences.
Key responsibilities:
- Drive product vision and direction by partnering with Product and Engineering to define what should be built, frame ambiguous problems into clear opportunities, and break complex projects into executable units.
- Design and prototype in code to accelerate product decisions, customer conversations, and team alignment, collaborating with engineers early so technical constraints shape design.
- Own visual and interaction design across all surfaces: command line, web and console, collaboration spaces, onboarding, and documentation. Develop and evolve style guides, design systems, and reusable patterns.
- Ground decisions in evidence through workshops, qualitative interviews, usability testing, product analytics analysis, and data visualization for different user archetypes.
- Operate as part of the org-wide design function with cross-departmental collaboration, interface with go-to-market partners, and occasional travel for in-person team and customer work.
You will turn unique value propositions into intuitive UX, design for deeply varied audiences from command-line developers to enterprise security leaders, and establish design principles as the product family grows.
REQUIREMENTS:
- ~6+ years building interfaces for complex technical domains (developer tools, enterprise, security, infrastructure, or AI) with exceptional visual and interaction design craft.
- Strong working knowledge of AI and agentic products and systems, with ability to make complex technical workflows clear without oversimplifying.
- Fluency with Figma and AI tools to augment design efficiency; comfort working directly with engineers and reasoning about technical constraints.
- Hands-on experience conducting user research (usability studies, contextual inquiry, surveys) paired with strong product sense connecting user needs to business and technical outcomes.
- Proven success with early-stage products and companies in fast-paced, highly ambiguous, high-autonomy environments; iterative, proactive, outcome-driven, and strong verbal communicator.
HIGHLY DESIRED:
- Experience designing developer tools, command-line experiences, or open-source products.
- Familiarity with emerging machine learning workflows or agentic frameworks.
- Familiarity with cloud-based platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
