Vera Health is a fast-growing clinical app for healthcare professionals, currently operating at significant scale with a small founding team of just over ten people. The company has achieved 100%+ month-over-month growth and recently raised Series A funding, growing from 10k to over 650k users since the beginning of the year.
As Founding Designer, you will own how Vera looks, feels, and works across the entire product and brand. You'll be responsible for creating a distinctive visual identity, turning complex clinical workflows into intuitive experiences, and ensuring every screen and interaction helps clinicians understand what they're looking at, find what they need, and know what to do next.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own design across Vera's product and brand, establishing a visual identity that is distinctive and consistent
- Transform complex clinical workflows into intuitive experiences, from overall journey to smallest interaction details
- Conduct user research with clinicians, observe how they use Vera, and identify opportunities for product improvement
- Explore ideas through prototypes, make clear design decisions, and execute with exceptional visual craft
- Collaborate closely with engineers to ensure the shipped experience matches the design vision
- Build and evolve a practical design system that enables the small team to move quickly
- Work directly with founders on product direction and push the experience forward weekly
You'll work in a fast-paced environment where ideas move to prototypes quickly and your work reaches users within days or hours. You'll have direct access to founders and the people using your work, with substantial creative ownership over the product and brand direction.
The company culture emphasizes shipping thoughtful work quickly, taking complete ownership of outcomes, maintaining high standards through direct feedback, and always prioritizing the clinician user experience. This is a demanding role with significant responsibility and close collaboration.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Exceptional taste in typography, layout, color, and interaction design
- Strong product intuition: ability to spot confusing flows, question unnecessary steps, and find simpler solutions
- Drive and ownership: resourceful, persistent, comfortable making progress without fully defined briefs
- Speed with high standards: explore quickly, seek early feedback, know where refinement matters most
- Fluency in Figma and comfort using tools to prototype, communicate, and refine ideas
- Coding is a plus but not required
- No minimum experience requirement; candidates may come from startups, school with exceptional internships, or strong personal projects
- Portfolio required showing strong work, clear thinking, and ability to follow through
