Optibus is seeking a Senior Product Designer to own the design of a core product area while simultaneously building AI agents, skills, and internal tools that reshape how the entire design team works. This is a hybrid individual contributor role—you will mentor and influence team practices without managing people.
You will take full design ownership of a significant product surface from discovery through launch and beyond, working directly with product and engineering teams. A key part of the role involves creating and maintaining the agentic design toolchain—the skills, agents, and commands that the design team uses daily, from ticket intake to reviewable prototype generation.
The role emphasizes rapid prototyping in working code: you will move from problem statements to clickable, testable artifacts by orchestrating AI agents to handle building while you review, steer, and refine. You will decide what gets delegated to agents, what remains human-driven, and where human gates sit in the workflow, then document these decisions so others can replicate them.
You will also drive adoption of new ways of working through rituals like prototyping sprints, office hours, pairing sessions, internal demos, and supporting documentation. You will maintain quality standards by defining what constitutes good agent output, building lightweight checks for shipped work, and providing honest feedback when manual approaches outperform agentic ones.
Optibus already has an AI agent in the product that works but is early-stage. The designer who understands agents best will have a real voice in shaping its evolution. This role is ideal for someone who has been quietly automating their own design process and wants that to become their actual job.
As a core team member, you will deeply understand user needs and pain points, ship real product on your area (not only tooling and experiments), collaborate across product and engineering to ensure feasibility, help other designers adopt new workflows, and tackle design challenges with creativity and a solutions-oriented mindset.
