Mixpanel is seeking a Senior PR & Communications Manager to build and lead the company's PR function as the first in-house comms hire, reporting to the Head of Communications & Content. This is a high-ownership, high-visibility role at the intersection of storytelling, strategy, and execution.
Key responsibilities include:
Media Relations: Cultivate relationships with journalists and editors covering enterprise tech, analytics, AI, data, and SaaS. Drive earned media coverage in top-tier business and trade outlets. Develop compelling story angles, press materials, and messaging frameworks. Serve as primary media contact and help prepare spokespeople for interviews.
Product Launches & Company News: Partner with Product Marketing to develop and execute PR strategies for major product announcements. Manage communications for company news while ensuring messaging is consistent, differentiated, and resonant with technical and business audiences.
Agency & Partner Management: Manage agency relationships across US, EMEA, and APAC regions. Set clear priorities, KPIs, and workflows. Serve as internal liaison ensuring agency output aligns with Mixpanel's voice and goals.
Internal Communications: Partner with People team and leadership to craft internal announcements and messaging programs that keep employees informed and connected to company narrative.
Crisis & Issues Management: Monitor media and competitive landscape for reputational issues. Support development of crisis communications protocols and serve as strategic voice in sensitive situations.
Executive Communications: Identify and manage award submissions, podcast appearances, and speaking opportunities. Develop LinkedIn content strategies for executives. Collaborate on bylines and contributed articles. Develop thought leadership narratives.
Required: 7+ years communications experience, preferably with both in-house B2B tech and PR agency background. Experience in analytics, data, AI, engineering, or product development. Exceptional writing and editing skills across formats. Strong verbal communication and storytelling abilities. Track record of securing meaningful coverage in top-tier outlets. Experience managing external agencies and cross-functional teams. Comfortable working independently in fast-moving, ambiguous environments. Journalism training or reporter/editor experience is a plus.
The role requires two days per week in San Francisco or New York office. This is a foundational opportunity to build something from the ground up at a company with strong product, clear category, and compelling story.
