Salary: EUR 65,400 - 88,400 / annual

Clio, a global leader in legal AI technology, is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to own UK and Ireland payroll operations end-to-end and serve as the second set of eyes on all EMEA payroll team output. This role sits within the People & HR function and reports to the Payroll Manager. Key responsibilities include: - Processing monthly UK and Ireland payroll cycles end-to-end, including inputs, validations, statutory calculations, funding, payment files, journal entries, and reconciliation - Owning complex calculations such as terminations, settlement agreements, statutory/occupational leave, salary sacrifice, benefit-in-kind treatment, cross-border cases, and equity transactions in Workday - Reviewing all Payroll Specialist output across EMEA and APAC pay cycles before release, including payroll registers, variance analysis, and final pay calculations - Serving as first escalation for payroll, benefits, and tax matters - Reviewing and signing off on statutory payroll reporting and remittances (HMRC RTI, Revenue submissions) and owning year-end reconciliation and P60/P11D production - Leading payroll setup for new countries as Clio expands, including scoping, provider selection, onboarding, and running initial cycles - Acting as primary payroll contact for financial and external audits - Training and coaching Payroll Specialists; owning SOPs and operating manuals - Maintaining Workday payroll configuration, testing releases, and supporting system changes Required qualifications: - CIPP qualification or equivalent - 5–7 years progressive payroll experience with at least 2 years reviewing and approving others' work - Full-cycle UK and Ireland payroll experience (PAYE, National Insurance, PRSI, USC, RTI, Revenue submissions, pensions auto-enrolment, statutory leave, year-end) - Experience standing up payroll in a new country or leading country onboarding with providers - Advanced Workday and Excel proficiency - Rigorous review skills with sound escalation judgment - AI fluency and active use of AI tools in daily work Bonus qualifications include second-country payroll certification, equity/stock compensation experience, exposure to other EMEA payroll, and payroll system implementation experience.
