Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior NPI Engineer to lead the transition of complex mechanical, electromechanical, and propulsion systems from prototype to high-rate production. This hands-on role combines manufacturing engineering, test development, and production scaling expertise to deliver mission-critical defense systems.
Key responsibilities include owning the New Product Introduction process for propulsion systems, actuators, and electrical/mechanical assemblies; developing and implementing comprehensive test plans and systems for mechanical, electromechanical, and propulsion subsystems; designing and validating scalable manufacturing and assembly processes with automation and tooling optimization; and supporting high-rate production scaling with cross-functional teams.
You will collaborate with design engineers on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) optimization, lead first article manufacturing and testing, partner with quality engineering on inspection and acceptance criteria, and drive root cause analysis for production or field failures. The role emphasizes data-driven process improvement using statistical methods and lessons learned to optimize throughput and product quality.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering; 6+ years in NPI, manufacturing engineering, test engineering, or production support; deep experience with manufacturing processes (CNC machining, injection molding, casting, sheet metal, electromechanical assembly); demonstrated expertise in DFM/DFA and prototype-to-production transitions; proven track record with first article builds and production ramp-up; strong quality systems knowledge; CAD/PLM proficiency (SolidWorks, Creo); and analytical skills including statistical process control.
Preferred qualifications include experience with propulsion systems, electric motors, gearboxes, or high-performance actuators in aerospace/defense; environmental testing expertise (vibration, thermal, shock); automated manufacturing/assembly experience; familiarity with defense/aerospace standards (AS9100, MIL-STD); Six Sigma certification; and lean manufacturing implementation experience.
