Bicara Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biotech company pioneering bifunctional antibodies for solid tumors, seeks a Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to serve as the field-based medical and scientific expert for the West region (CA, WA). This role focuses on engagement with healthcare providers, key opinion leaders, and research institutions to provide fair and balanced education on investigational oncology products, particularly FICERA (ficerafusp alfa), a potentially first-in-class bifunctional EGFR-directed antibody.
Key responsibilities include identifying and establishing collaborative relationships with key investigators, academic institutions, and consortia; providing medical education to oncology leaders and healthcare professionals; participating in formulary committee presentations; facilitating investigator-initiated research programs from concept through publication; and identifying clinical research opportunities aligned with company objectives. The role requires gathering competitive intelligence, mentoring other MSL team members, contributing to cross-functional Medical Affairs initiatives, and leading national-level priority projects. You will maintain clinical and scientific expertise through conference attendance, publication review, and ongoing training, while managing administrative aspects of regional field activities and providing responses to unsolicited medical information requests.
Required qualifications include a minimum of five years in pharmaceutical industry Medical Affairs as an MSL or Senior MSL, with solid tumor experience preferred. An advanced degree (M.D., Ph.D., or Pharm.D.) is preferred, along with knowledge of treatment guidelines (NCCN, ASCO, ESMO), clinical research processes, FDA regulations, CMS reimbursement, and OIG guidelines. The role demands 60-70% domestic travel, strong networking and presentation skills, and the ability to engage with medical thought leaders, academic institutions, large group practices, NCI Cooperative Group members, and insurance/pharmacy leadership. Head and neck or solid tumor experience is a plus.
