Salary: USD 146,000 - 194,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced autonomous systems, AI, and sensor fusion. The Maritime Division develops next-generation autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) and surface platforms, including the Copperhead family of UUVs, powered by Lattice OS—an AI-driven command and control system.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the technical development of comprehensive support systems for the Copperhead family of vehicles, covering service, maintenance, deployment, launch, and recovery across diverse operational environments. This is a hands-on role requiring close collaboration with electrical, software, and systems teams, as well as customer representatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop robust, productized support systems for UUV deployment, recovery, operation, and maintenance
- Develop mechanical solutions for launch/recovery mechanisms, handling gear, transportation, storage, and test equipment
- Select, qualify, and manage vendors for commercial off-the-shelf components and outsourced manufacturing
- Own mechanical systems development from concept through low-rate production
- Define requirements, propose solutions, and establish evaluation/verification methodologies
- Ensure electrical, software, and mechanical systems integrate into reliable, cost-effective solutions
- Lead design reviews, conduct structural analysis, visit vendors, and execute hardware test plans
- Contribute to team tools, templates, processes, and engineering standards
Required: Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, 7+ years in mechanical design and testing (maritime, aerospace, or defense preferred), proficiency in CAD (Siemens NX preferred), hands-on fabrication skills, and eligibility for U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred: Experience with robotic/autonomous systems, defense/maritime/aerospace domains, finite element analysis of complex structures, and product lifecycle management including manufacturing and deployment.
