Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Intelligence Systems team in Reston, Virginia. This role focuses on designing and developing mechanical systems and components for cutting-edge defense technologies serving Intelligence Community customers.
You will own hardware from concept generation through real-world deployment, applying first-principles physics to every design decision. Key responsibilities include leading design reviews, conducting thermal and structural analysis, building and testing prototypes, managing vendor relationships, and executing comprehensive hardware test plans. You'll collaborate closely with electrical and software engineers to ensure seamless system integration, support critical customer demonstrations, and travel to test sites as needed.
The role requires hands-on involvement across the full product lifecycle: CAD modeling, prototype fabrication, failure analysis, and transition to production. You'll work within Anduril's Intelligence Systems division, which partners directly with IC customers to understand requirements, shape operational concepts, and deliver specialized capabilities addressing national security priorities.
Required qualifications include 10+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience, an active U.S. Secret security clearance (or ability to obtain one), and a BS/M.Eng/MS/PhD in a related engineering field. You must demonstrate strong CAD proficiency, hands-on fabrication skills, and deep competence with engineering first principles. Experience with immersive technical projects (collegiate or professional) is essential.
Preferred qualifications include experience integrating PCBAs and electronics into mechanical systems, proficiency with Siemens NX and Teamcenter, expertise in passive and active thermal management design, knowledge of EMI constraints, and proven collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.
