Eight Sleep is a sleep fitness company building advanced hardware, software, and AI technology to optimize human performance through sleep. The company's flagship product, the Pod, is a smart sleep system trusted by high performers and professional athletes in over 30 countries.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will architect and design complex electromechanical systems from concept through production. You'll own significant portions of the product development lifecycle, including brainstorming, CAD modeling, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing ramp in Asia. Your work will span plastic, metal, and soft goods components integrated with novel sensors and actuators.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing electromechanical systems and components across the full development lifecycle
- Performing thermal, fluid, and structural analyses to validate designs against product goals
- Collaborating cross-functionally with electrical, software, reliability, and manufacturing engineering teams
- Supporting high-volume manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability (DFM/DFA)
- Traveling to Asia as needed to support manufacturing partners
- Shaping product direction through collaboration with industrial design, marketing, product, and leadership teams
Required qualifications: 3+ years of consumer product design experience with injection molding, sheet metal forming, and sensor/electronics integration. You must have shipped high-volume consumer products with manufacturing support in Asia. Proficiency in 3D CAD (Solidworks, NX, or Creo) is essential, along with expertise in tolerance analysis, GD&T, root cause analysis, and quality techniques. A BSME or equivalent is required.
