OfferUp is a local marketplace platform connecting people and businesses to buy, sell, and trade goods and services in their communities. The company is building the next chapter of its consumer marketing function to drive supply and demand across its marketplace.
This role is a hybrid of hands-on individual contributor work and people management, reporting to the Senior Director of Product. You will oversee the product marketing team while executing campaigns, analyzing data, and driving measurable business outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Translate marketplace supply and demand signals into rapid marketing action, owning the full loop from identification through execution at scale.
- Drive consumer lifecycle and engagement marketing across push, email, and in-app channels for activation, engagement, and reactivation of both buyers and sellers.
- Balance both sides of the marketplace: grow supply where demand outpaces it, and demand where supply is abundant.
- Build repeatable playbooks and rolling demand calendars with engineering and data science teams to launch recurring opportunities quickly and improve them each cycle.
- Design and analyze experiments using Statsig, measuring impact on marketplace outcomes (transactions, GMV, listings).
- Own positioning, messaging, and go-to-market launches for product surfaces and marketplace moments.
- Brief and enable creative, lifecycle, paid, and communications partners with insight-led messaging that scales from national campaigns to local markets.
- Leverage AI tooling and SQL to self-serve analysis, compress campaign operations, and multiply team output.
- Cultivate and develop high-performing marketing talent with clear professional development and a culture of ownership.
You bring 8+ years in product marketing, lifecycle/engagement marketing, or growth marketing in consumer tech (marketplaces or e-commerce preferred). You have proven experience managing and scaling marketing teams, deep expertise in consumer lifecycle programs (push, email, in-app), and a track record of end-to-end GTM launches with strong positioning and messaging. You combine traditional marketing craft with a growth operator's mindset: comfort with short cycles, event-driven opportunities, and incrementality as the success metric. You work with SQL and modern data warehouses (BigQuery preferred), validate your own numbers, and use LLM tools in real workflows with good judgment. You've designed and read A/B and geo-based tests, understand holdouts, and write clearly at all levels. You lead through influence, align cross-functional partners, and navigate complex organizations to deliver shared goals.
