Salary: USD 143,000 - 191,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company building advanced autonomous systems and AI-powered command-and-control platforms for U.S. and allied military forces. The company is scaling production at Arsenal-1, a new manufacturing campus in Ashville, Ohio, and is standing up the site maintenance organization from the ground up.
You will serve as Senior Manager of Maintenance for Arsenal-1 Building 1, owning the end-to-end build of the maintenance function as the facility ramps to multi-shift production supporting multiple advanced defense programs (Fury, Barracuda, Altius, Roadrunner, and others). You will report directly to the Senior Director of Manufacturing Operations and partner with Anduril's central Maintenance Center of Excellence to establish enterprise standards on the factory floor.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define the maintenance strategy, operating model, organizational structure, shift coverage, budget, and multi-year staffing plan for the site
- Build and lead a multi-layer team of maintenance managers, supervisors, skilled-trades technicians (electrical/controls, mechanical/millwright, facilities), and planners/schedulers
- Stand up preventive and predictive maintenance programs with PM schedules, job plans, and reliability strategies for manual assembly, automated machining, fabrication, and building systems
- Own spare parts and MRO strategy, including critical-spares definition, stocking levels, storeroom setup, and OEM/supplier relationships
- Implement and administer the CMMS for work-order management, asset tracking, PM compliance, and KPI reporting aligned to enterprise standards
- Support new equipment and automation launches through commissioning, spare-parts provisioning, and maintainability planning
- Establish calibration schedules, asset registers, equipment manuals, and maintenance documentation
- Drive reliability improvements by tracking uptime, MTBF/MTTR, PM compliance, and cost; lead root-cause analysis on chronic failures
- Work hands-on with manufacturing teams on the floor, especially during early stand-up
- Represent maintenance in capital planning, facility expansion, and program-launch decisions as a member of site operations leadership
You will balance governance and standardization (adopting enterprise CMMS configuration, PM standards, KPI definitions, and safety procedures) with site autonomy in day-to-day execution, hiring, vendor relationships, and floor-level prioritization. A dotted-line relationship to the central maintenance leader provides mentorship and network-wide alignment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing environments, including 4+ years in maintenance leadership roles managing managers and/or supervisors
- Must be based on-site at Arsenal-1 in Ashville, Ohio
- Demonstrated experience standing up maintenance organizations, PM systems, and spare-parts strategies from scratch, ideally in greenfield or early-stage facilities
- Proven ability to own a maintenance budget and represent maintenance in capital planning and site leadership decisions
- Hands-on experience with OEMs and automated production equipment
- Skilled-trades background or engineering experience paired with a genuinely hands-on approach
- Working knowledge of CMMS/work-order systems, tooling, and calibration
- Proven ability to operate at both strategic and shop-floor levels
- Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills, especially with manufacturing, controls, and automation teams
- Background in automotive, aerospace, defense, or heavy industry (e.g., Caterpillar, Boeing, Tier 1 suppliers)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience standing up or leading maintenance for automation-heavy facilities
- Experience building and running multi-shift maintenance coverage at scale
- 3–5 years in a startup or fast-growing company environment
- Experience partnering with a central/corporate maintenance function or Center of Excellence
