Apptronik is a Series B humanoid robotics company developing AI-powered robots (Apollo) for manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and beyond. We are seeking a Senior Manager of Hardware Connectivity to lead the team designing and implementing Apollo's internal and external communication systems—the robot's "nervous system." You will manage a team of electrical, RF, and interconnect engineers responsible for ensuring flawless data transmission across the robot: high-bandwidth sensor data, low-latency joint control signals, cloud telematics, and wireless links. Your scope spans internal network architecture, external wireless integration (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Cellular/5G), wire harness and flex-PCB design for articulating joints, and EMI/EMC mitigation in a high-noise electromagnetic environment. Key responsibilities include: - Team leadership: manage, mentor, and grow a team of specialized engineers; conduct design reviews and resource allocation across rapid hardware cycles. - Internal network architecture: oversee physical layer design and routing for all internal communication buses throughout the robot's body. - External wireless & RF: lead integration and antenna design for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Cellular, enabling telemetry, OTA updates, and teleoperation. - Interconnects & harnessing: own physical design, shielding, and dynamic routing of wire harnesses and custom flex-PCBs across articulating joints for maximum lifecycle reliability. - EMI/EMC & signal integrity: define grounding architectures, shielding strategies, and spectrum management to isolate sensitive signals from high-power motor noise. - Cross-functional collaboration: partner with electrical, mechanical, and software engineering teams for seamless system integration. Required: BS/MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering; 10+ years hardware design experience with 4+ years direct people management; deep technical expertise in at least two of: RF/wireless integration, complex wire harness/flex-PCB design, EMI/EMC mitigation, or high/low-speed signal integrity. You are a hands-on leader comfortable diving into schematics and layout reviews while effectively delegating to senior technical contributors. Bonus: experience in humanoid robotics, industrial automation, EVs, or aerospace; taking mixed-signal hardware from prototype to high-volume manufacturing; formal EMC certification or anechoic chamber testing.
