LaunchDarkly is seeking a Senior Manager, Global Payroll to lead and scale the company's global payroll operations during its next phase of growth. This leader will own the end-to-end payroll operating model, including payroll processing, controls, compliance, vendor management, reconciliations, reporting, systems and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own end-to-end global payroll operations across multiple countries, entities, pay frequencies and local requirements, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and completeness
- Lead US and international payroll operations and manage relationships with third-party payroll providers, EOR partners and local payroll specialists
- Establish and maintain strong payroll controls, review procedures and audit-ready documentation across employee data, tax withholding, deductions, benefits, equity, commissions and bonuses
- Partner with People Operations and Total Rewards to ensure employee lifecycle events (new hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, compensation changes) flow accurately into payroll
- Collaborate with Accounting on payroll reconciliations, journal entries, accruals and month-end close support
- Partner with Stock Administration to ensure equity transactions and related taxable compensation are accurately reflected in payroll
- Work with Legal and external advisors on payroll tax, statutory requirements, registrations, wage and hour matters, audits and year-end reporting
- Serve as senior escalation point for complex payroll issues, investigate root causes and communicate with cross-functional partners
- Lead payroll audits and year-end processes including W-2s, tax filings and statutory reporting
- Evaluate and implement payroll systems, HRIS integrations, workflows and reporting to reduce manual effort and improve data quality
- Define and monitor payroll operating metrics including cycle accuracy, timeliness, exception volume and provider performance
- Analyze payroll data and trends, prepare workforce-cost projections and deliver reporting to Finance and leadership
- Improve employee payroll experience by responding to questions and communicating clearly about payroll timelines
- Lead, mentor and develop payroll team members and external partners
Required qualifications: 10+ years progressive payroll experience including significant experience leading global payroll operations in multi-entity organizations. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, HR, business or related field (CPP preferred). Experience managing US and international payroll across multiple countries, pay frequencies and providers. Strong knowledge of US payroll tax, statutory requirements, year-end reporting and wage/hour considerations. Hands-on experience with payroll solutions like ADP and track record of leading system implementations or migrations. Demonstrated success designing payroll controls, reconciliations and audit processes.
