Tailscale is seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Developer Relations to build and scale DevRel as a strategic growth function. This is a player-coach role combining team leadership, program strategy, and hands-on developer advocacy.
You will lead the DevRel team and own Tailscale's Developer Relations function end-to-end, including strategy, roadmap, and alignment with product and business goals. Key responsibilities include building and leading a high-performing DevRel organization, managing and developing both senior and junior technical talent, and scaling repeatable programs across technical content, product integrations, YouTube, talks, demos, workshops, events, and community channels.
You'll serve as a visible technical voice for Tailscale through hands-on work such as videos, presentations, demos, integrations, and workshops while maintaining strong personal technical credibility. You'll develop new technical voices and contributors both inside and outside Tailscale to extend DevRel presence beyond any one individual.
The role requires leading community-focused technical initiatives that identify unmet developer needs, supporting strategic partnerships, and enabling emerging use cases. You'll maintain a clear DevRel roadmap with defined owners, timelines, audiences, and intended outcomes, ensuring all work is technically accurate, engaging, and aligned with product positioning.
You'll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Growth, Content, Sales, and Customer Success to coordinate launches and educational initiatives. You'll influence product strategy by identifying developer workflows and ecosystem opportunities where Tailscale can create differentiated value. You'll define, track, and report on DevRel performance including audience growth, engagement, product activation, and contribution to the self-serve funnel. You'll manage DevRel budgets, vendors, tools, and capacity planning while balancing quality, speed, and business impact.
