Tailscale is seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Developer Relations to build and scale DevRel as a strategic growth function. This is a player-coach role combining team leadership, program strategy, and hands-on developer advocacy.
You will lead the DevRel team and own the function end-to-end, including strategy, roadmap, and alignment with product and business goals. Key responsibilities include building and leading a high-performing DevRel organization; scaling repeatable programs across technical content, video, events, workshops, community, and integrations; serving as a visible technical voice through hands-on work; developing new technical voices both internally and externally; and leading community-focused initiatives that identify unmet developer needs.
You'll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Growth, Content, Sales, and Customer Success to coordinate launches, influence product strategy through developer feedback, and act as the senior DevRel partner for major launches. You'll define and track DevRel performance metrics including audience growth, engagement, product activation, and self-serve funnel contribution. Budget management, vendor coordination, and capacity planning are also core responsibilities.
The role requires strong technical credibility, excellent judgment, and a proven track record of turning developer insights into programs that build awareness, education, product adoption, and long-term trust. You'll maintain a clear DevRel roadmap with defined owners, timelines, and outcomes, and use qualitative and quantitative data to prioritize programs and demonstrate DevRel's business value.
