Sleeper is a consumer sports and fantasy platform with millions of active users. This is a zero-to-one lifecycle marketing role embedded directly with the product team, offering rare autonomy to design and build the entire customer lifecycle program from scratch.
You will own strategy and execution across all automated customer journeys: onboarding, activation, retention, and win-back campaigns. Your responsibilities include building multi-channel campaigns in Braze (push, email, in-app), rebuilding email as a high-performing channel with full ownership of deliverability, defining audience segmentation from behavioral data, and running rigorous A/B tests and incrementality studies to measure true lift.
Key responsibilities:
- Design and build lifecycle canvases in Braze for onboarding, activation, retention, and reactivation across push, email, and in-app messaging
- Own email channel end-to-end: domain warm-up, list hygiene, engagement-based sending, and inbox recovery
- Define behavioral audiences and partner with data and engineering to instrument required events and attributes
- Design and execute holdout tests, incrementality studies, and A/B tests; measure incremental lift rather than vanity metrics
- Drive lifecycle strategy for major moments (season kickoffs, competitions, product launches) in close partnership with product, design, and marketing teams
- Establish operating standards: naming conventions, QA processes, frequency capping, and send-decision frameworks
Required qualifications:
- 3+ years in lifecycle marketing, CRM, or growth marketing with meaningful ownership of a consumer program
- Deep hands-on Braze experience (or equivalent: Iterable, Airship, Customer.io); you've built multi-step branching journeys yourself
- Strong understanding of email deliverability: sender reputation, authentication protocols, engagement-based sending
- Analytical rigor: comfortable working in data, designing holdouts, and distinguishing incremental lift from correlation
- Builder's mindset: energized by blank-slate projects, able to move from strategy to shipped product independently
- Strong writing skills for push notifications and email copy that drive engagement
- Collaborative approach with product and engineering teams; ability to scope instrumentation requests and see them through
Bonus qualifications include in-app messaging and push experience, background in sports/fantasy/gaming/regulated consumer products, familiarity with responsible gaming or compliance messaging, SQL proficiency, and personal use of similar products.
