BigID is hiring a Senior IT Operations Engineer to own automation, identity, security, and workplace tools across the company. This is an individual contributor role with significant technical leadership scope—you'll set your own direction, take projects from conception through rollout, and balance long-term builds with urgent escalations.
You will work with Security, R&D, People, Support, Engineering, and GTM teams to identify manual processes that depend on copying data between tools, design solutions, build them, document them, and keep them running. You'll also serve as the North American contact for the global IT team (with a Tel Aviv-based counterpart) for urgent requests and production incidents.
Key responsibilities include:
**Automation and Integration**: Own AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and GCP automation defined as code with Terraform and deployed through GitLab CI/CD. Manage Okta Workflows, Workato, REST APIs, and webhooks. Write scripts in Python or Go. Support integrations around Salesforce, Auth0, Slack, Jira, and data warehouse. Set up backups for critical systems like Jira, GitHub, and Okta Workflows.
**AI Enablement**: Own the Claude rollout including connectors and Claude Tag in Slack. Host and govern MCP servers, including the Cloudflare MCP portal. Support other AI tools teams request (Gemini, Copilot). Review connectors for security and access scope.
**Identity and Access**: Own Okta and Auth0 administration, including Auth0 Actions, SCIM, MFA, device trust, and joiner/mover/leaver processes. Connect Okta to access governance tools like Entitle or Lumos.
**Security and Edge**: Own DNS, PKI, WAF, and rate limiting in Cloudflare. Manage email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC). Support CloudFront sites and coordinate hosting changes. Help the security team investigate findings.
**Workplace Tools and Support**: Own Google Workspace, Jira, JSM, Confluence, Slack, and GitLab. Handle Tier 2 and Tier 3 service desk escalations. Troubleshoot Windows and macOS endpoints. Manage vendor support cases and device-based access policies with teams managing Iru Kandji and Intune.
**Documentation and Continuous Improvement**: Write runbooks, architecture notes, and handoff documents. Maintain accurate inventory of hardware, software, and resources. Manage IT vendor and contractor relationships. Identify weak points and update infrastructure for scalability, reliability, and security.
Example projects include connecting Claude to team tools with MCP-backed data sources, building Okta Workflows for conditional access, writing AWS Lambda functions behind API Gateway to link systems, diagnosing failing Workato recipes, and tracing email bounces in Google Workspace.
You lead without direct reports, set direction, see projects through completion, and make decisions. You think about security in every process, treat identity as the front door, and start from what teams are trying to accomplish. You bring an employee-experience mindset and are a generalist who enjoys learning new tools.
**Requirements:**
- 7+ years in IT operations, DevOps, cloud engineering, or IAM engineering, including 2+ years automating IT processes (equivalent experience considered)
- Hands-on Okta administration, including Okta Workflows, and experience with Auth0 custom logic (Actions or rules)
- Working knowledge of AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFront, IAM) and GCP (projects, IAM, BigQuery)
- Experience building integrations with Workato or similar iPaaS tool
- Proficiency in at least one automation language (Python, Go, or Node.js) and experience with REST APIs and webhooks
- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform or Pulumi) and CI/CD pipelines, ideally GitLab
- Practical experience with Claude or comparable LLM tools, connectors, and MCP servers, with understanding of security implications
- Experience with Cloudflare (DNS, certificates, Workers) and strong Google Workspace administration
- Solid understanding of SSO (SAML, OIDC), MFA, SCIM, RBAC, DNS, and email authentication
- Familiarity with MDM such as Iru Kandji or Intune, and experience troubleshooting Windows and macOS
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal English with strong documentation habits
- Discretion with confidential information

- Salesforce Apex and Flow
- Custom MCP servers or agent frameworks
- SQL and experience with BigQuery, Snowflake, or Databricks
- Azure or other public cloud experience
- Access governance or SaaS security tools (Entitle, Lumos)
- SOC 2 or ISO 27001 experience, including vulnerability management
- HRIS-driven provisioning (e.g., HiBob to Okta)
- Relevant certifications (AWS, GCP, Okta)
