In this client-facing Senior International HRBP role, you will be the go-to expert for customers and internal teams, solving complex HR challenges across Western European countries, primarily Portugal, Italy, and Spain. You will provide pragmatic, solutions-focused guidance on high-risk and sensitive employee relations matters, including performance management, misconduct investigations, and terminations. Your deep HR expertise will help customers feel supported and confident navigating complex people issues. Key responsibilities include: • Acting as a senior HR expert for complex employee relations matters across allocated countries, with in-depth knowledge of multiple European legal frameworks • Providing pragmatic guidance on high-risk cases while ensuring compliance with local legal requirements • Partnering with internal stakeholders and customers to deliver clear, actionable advice on complex people issues • Drafting country-specific HR information and leveraging AI/automation tools to streamline documentation generation and knowledge delivery • Answering HR-related tickets that cannot be resolved by operational teams • Providing training to internal teams on HR topics as needed • Proactively improving country-specific HR information and attending customer calls on country-specific matters • Collaborating with Customer Support, Sales, Product, and Legal teams on country-specific issues • Auditing and refining workflows to reduce response times and elevate service quality • Analyzing recurring ticket trends to identify systemic issues and build preventative resources • Leading People Services and cross-functional projects supporting the company's mission Oyster operates as a fully remote, distributed company with no physical headquarters. The role requires you to be based within UTC+0 to UTC+3 time zones to support customer interactions and team collaboration. REQUIREMENTS: • 6+ years of employee relations and HR generalist experience with a strong track record of supporting both internal stakeholders and external clients • Deep employee relations expertise across multiple countries with hands-on experience handling complex and high-risk cases (investigations, performance improvement plans, terminations) • Cross-country HR experience with a deep global focus (APAC, EMEA, AMER, LATAM) • Portuguese, Italian, and/or Spanish language skills (highly valued) • Culturally aware with nuanced understanding of local HR practices, norms, and expectations across supported regions • Exceptional communicator able to translate complex employment topics into practical, accessible advice • Solution-oriented and commercially minded with well-reasoned recommendations for challenging people matters • Skilled at stakeholder engagement, including presenting confidently to senior leaders, clients, and cross-functional teams • Change-ready and growth-driven, excited by ambiguity and eager to challenge the status quo • People-first mindset with strong focus on customer, team member, and employee experience • Tech-forward and AI-literate with practical experience using AI tools for drafting, research, and data analysis • Proven track record of optimizing processes, scaling operations, and moving from reactive to proactive problem-solving • Thrives in metrics-driven environment with focus on speed, precision, and high-quality outcomes • Fluent English language • Reliable home internet connection BONUS QUALIFICATIONS: • Demonstrable experience with Employer of Record (EOR) platforms and international employment compliance • Additional languages beyond English, Portuguese, Italian, and Spanish • Experience in fast-paced, scaling startup or global tech environments • Experience implementing AI tools or automation workflows within HR or operations functions • Experience in countries like France
