Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Integration & Test Engineer II to lead spacecraft integration and test campaigns at their Long Beach headquarters. This role is central to the Space Systems organization, which has enabled over 1,700 missions including lunar and Martian exploration, in-space manufacturing, and national security initiatives.
You will own integration and test campaigns across various levels of spacecraft development, working collaboratively to define systems requirements and verification/validation plans. Key responsibilities include developing acceptance, qualification, and R&D test plans for spacecraft systems; developing, maintaining, and operating environmental test systems (vibration, thermal vacuum, thermal, EMI); and developing/maintaining mechanical and electrical ground support equipment and facilities.
Additional duties involve interfacing with ground test software and implementing flight software configuration changes, leading investigations into anomalous vehicle behavior, and interfacing with hardware-in-the-loop test systems. You will support internal leadership, board of directors, and investor deliverables.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronics, mechatronics, aerospace, or related engineering; 8+ years in test engineering or hands-on engineering roles; experience with environmental testing (thermal vacuum, random vibration); proficiency in C, C++, Python, or MATLAB; experience writing technical documentation; U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain/maintain security clearance.
Desirable qualifications include Master's/PhD in engineering; 4+ years aerospace test engineering experience; understanding of satellite subsystems (CDH, ADCS, EPS, COMM); cleanroom and ESD-sensitive equipment experience; hands-on electrical test equipment proficiency; test systems design/implementation experience; sensor and signal conditioning knowledge; spacecraft harness design familiarity; 3D CAD (NX) experience; RF testing and hardware-in-the-loop testing; networking knowledge; Linux systems experience.
