Antora Energy is a clean energy company developing thermal battery technology to deliver affordable, reliable energy to industry, data centers, and the grid without supply-constrained critical minerals or multi-year construction timelines. The Senior Industrial Hygienist will lead Antora's industrial hygiene program across its San Jose manufacturing, machining, and R&D sites, with responsibility for supporting the company's growing domestic footprint. This is a hands-on role combining fieldwork, practical problem-solving, and day-to-day program maintenance. Key responsibilities include: **Exposure Assessment:** Design, plan, and conduct personal and area air monitoring, noise surveys, and heat stress evaluations across the facility. Maintain and expand qualitative and quantitative exposure assessment programs for dusts (graphite, carbon, and other dusts), metal fumes, chemical vapors, noise, and heat stress. Review SDSs and toxicology data for new processes, chemicals, and equipment; work with engineers and process owners to determine what exposure assessments are needed before introduction. Interpret results against occupational exposure limits and communicate findings to employees and leadership through written notifications and reports. **Controls and Health Programs:** Recommend and verify controls following the hierarchy of controls, including local exhaust ventilation, enclosure, substitution, and PPE. Evaluate ventilation and local exhaust performance; support combustible dust hazard analyses. Run respiratory protection, hearing conservation, hazard communication, and heat illness prevention programs, including fit testing, respirator selection, and chemical approval reviews. **Compliance and Program Support:** Maintain compliance with OSHA and Cal/OSHA general industry health standards and related record keeping. Manage sampling equipment, calibration, chain of custody, and relationships with accredited labs and outside consultants. Develop and deliver training for employees and supervisors. Balance strategic problem-solving with hands-on maintenance work—sampling dust in the machining room one day, reviewing new chemicals for R&D the next, and presenting results to leadership the day after. You'll spend most of your time in machine shops, cleanroom laboratories, and R&D test areas, working directly with engineers and scientists as they develop new thermal energy storage technology. The role combines technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills to communicate across the shop floor, training rooms, and senior management. **Requirements:** - 5+ years of industrial hygiene experience in general industry settings such as industrial or manufacturing operations - Bachelor's or master's degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health, chemistry, biology, engineering, or similar science-based discipline - Direct experience designing and conducting exposure assessments using NIOSH and OSHA sampling methods and interpreting results against occupational exposure limits - Strong working knowledge of toxicology, including routes of exposure and dose-response; ability to use SDSs and toxicology data to determine which hazards need evaluation - Experience working with engineers and process owners to understand processes and develop sampling plans - Strong working knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA health standards and ACGIH TLVs; direct experience running respiratory protection, hearing conservation, and hazard communication programs - Commitment to continually improving ability to research and monitor regulations and industry best practices (OSHA, Cal/OSHA, ACGIH, NIOSH, AIHA, ANSI) - Great interpersonal and communication skills adaptable to shop floor, training rooms, and senior management - Strong ability to manage multiple projects in a disciplined manner and ensure timely deliverables - Open and humble approach to problem-solving aligned with company mission - Patience and determination to work in fast-paced environment with conflicting priorities **Desired Qualifications:** - CIH certification preferred or active progress toward it - Experience with graphite, carbon, or metal dusts and combustible dust hazards - Experience with ventilation testing and direct-reading instruments - Master's degree in industrial hygiene, toxicology, or EH&S-relevant discipline - Experience and passion for working with Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles
