IonQ is seeking a Senior HPC Platform Engineer to join its Infrastructure Team. The role focuses on designing, developing, and supporting the internal high-performance computing platform that enables IonQ's quantum computing research, engineering, and application development.
Key responsibilities include:
• Design and develop a comprehensive HPC software platform supporting quantum computing research, engineering, control, and application development workflows
• Build user-facing web applications and self-service tooling enabling researchers to discover, access, and execute work across interactive development, batch jobs, and CI/CD pipelines on both on-premises and cloud systems
• Develop operational tooling and services for the Infrastructure team, including telemetry and observability pipelines, SLO dashboards, and automation for system provisioning and management
• Write well-tested, maintainable code and participate in design and code reviews, helping shape the platform's architecture and engineering practices as the team scales
• Provide technical support to internal researchers and software developers running computationally intensive workloads
The Infrastructure Team is growing, and this early-stage role offers significant opportunity to influence platform architecture and establish engineering best practices. You'll work closely with researchers and developers across IonQ, directly accelerating scientific computing and quantum advancement.
The position is based in College Park, MD (headquarters), Boulder, CO, or Bothell, WA, with a hybrid work model allowing remote work several days per week. Travel up to 15% (domestic or international) may be required.
