Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) Engineer to join the Maneuver Dominance and Flight Engineering teams. This role focuses on developing operationally relevant multi-asset autonomy systems, leveraging Anduril platforms like Ghost and Altius while integrating third-party platforms into the Lattice ecosystem.
Key responsibilities include developing, implementing, and testing GNC algorithms for guidance, navigation, and control systems aligned with project requirements. You will design and assess GNC architectures considering vehicle dynamics, sensors, actuators, and control algorithms. The role spans all development phases from concept through design, prototyping, testing, and operational deployment.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including systems engineers, flight software engineers, mission autonomy engineers, and test engineers to ensure system-wide integration and performance. Contributions include design reviews, safety assessments, and comprehensive system documentation. You will use simulation and analysis tools like MATLAB and Simulink to verify GNC models and assess system performance under various operating conditions.
The position requires providing system engineering expertise in GNC development, troubleshooting issues across design and testing phases, and staying current with emerging technologies in GNC engineering and system architecture. You will work on advanced autonomous air vehicle platforms including rotorcraft and VTOL systems.
Required qualifications include a BS in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace Engineering with 8+ years of GNC or related technical experience. Strong theoretical knowledge of classical and modern control theory, estimation, and filtering techniques is essential. You must have exceptional understanding of flight dynamics for both VTOL and conventional take-off/landing aircraft, proven experience developing GNC solutions for flight systems, and proficiency with GNC simulation tools. Familiarity with 6-DOF simulations and ability to travel up to 25% are required.
Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, practical experience developing GNC designs for flight systems, and extensive experience in GNC system architecture development and testing, preferably in aerospace.
