Salary: USD 140,000 - 200,000 / annual
Bitwarden is a trusted identity security platform serving millions of users worldwide with password management, secrets management, and passwordless innovations. As a Senior Front End Engineer on the Vault team, you will directly impact how users create, organize, and access their most sensitive information across devices and platforms.
You'll work within Bitwarden's open-source ecosystem, collaborating with a passionate community dedicated to transparency and trust in security software. Your responsibilities include breaking down and implementing new features, writing clean and well-tested code, taking ownership of work quality, and establishing standards for performance optimization and maintainability. You'll identify and address technical debt, direct decisions on new frameworks and technical direction, review pull requests with constructive feedback, and collaborate with the open-source community to review contributions and address issues on GitHub.
You bring extensive experience with Angular, TypeScript, and RxJS for front-end development, strong technical writing skills, and the ability to clearly communicate complex problems. Understanding of relational database design, SQL Server optimization, and experience with Rust for cross-platform SDK development are strong pluses. You have a collaborative and adaptable mindset, excellent communication skills, and genuine enthusiasm for open source and internet security. Your problem-solving approach combines knowing how to find answers with the ability to communicate solutions effectively.
Nice-to-haves include being a Bitwarden user, startup experience, open source contributions, Node.js and Electron experience, and familiarity with generative AI coding platforms like Claude Code. The interview process includes meetings with the recruiting manager, vault engineering manager, and a panel interview with the vault team. This is a fully remote role for US-based candidates; visa sponsorship is not available.
