Salary: USD 120,000 - 225,000 / annual

K2 Space is building the largest and highest-power satellites ever flown, backed by $450M in funding from leading investors including Altimeter Capital, Redpoint Ventures, and others. The company is mass-producing next-generation satellite platforms designed to operate across LEO to deep space, capitalizing on the shift from mass-constrained to mass-abundant launch vehicles. As a Senior FPGA Prototyping Engineer, you will own the complete silicon lifecycle from pre-silicon FPGA prototyping through post-silicon bring-up and validation. You'll serve as the critical bridge between ASIC design, firmware, software, and system integration teams. Key responsibilities include: - Developing FPGA-based prototypes to enable early ASIC integration and hardware/software co-development - Building hardware platforms that allow firmware and software teams to develop before first silicon arrives - Supporting first-silicon bring-up, debug, and functional validation - Developing automated validation infrastructure for silicon characterization and regression testing - Configuring and validating high-speed digital interfaces (Ethernet SerDes, SPI, UART, GPIO) - Creating FPGA-based traffic generators, protocol checkers, and test applications - Debugging issues spanning RTL, firmware, software, FPGA prototypes, and silicon using simulation and lab instrumentation - Collaborating with ASIC Design, Verification, Firmware, Software, Systems, and DFT teams Required qualifications: - BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field - 5+ years of FPGA development with Verilog/SystemVerilog and AMD/Xilinx tools - Strong understanding of ASIC development and digital system architecture - Experience with FPGA prototyping for ASIC development - Firmware/software enablement and hardware bring-up experience - Hardware debugging skills (JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers) - Python and scripting proficiency for automation Nice-to-have skills include networking/communications/satellite systems experience, embedded processors (ARM/RISC-V), hard real-time systems, high-speed interface validation, and silicon bring-up expertise.
