Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Senior Flight Test Engineer to lead mission autonomy testing for the Fury, a Group 5 unmanned aerial system (UAS). The role is central to Anduril's Test and Evaluation team, which ensures all products meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.
You will drive the advancement of Anduril's testing methodologies with a focus on mission autonomy systems, ensuring robust and reliable performance in complex operational scenarios. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing comprehensive test plans that challenge and verify autonomous system capabilities across simulated mission profiles; analyzing test data to validate system performance and identify improvement areas; and iterating rapidly to refine autonomy algorithms and behaviors.
You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams—software engineers, hardware engineers, and product managers—to define test requirements and ensure alignment with system capabilities and mission objectives. You will own end-to-end test management, shaping program requirements, designing test plans, leading execution, analyzing complex data, and delivering clear reports to stakeholders. Additionally, you will execute and analyze simulations replicating real-world scenarios to accelerate testing cycles and optimize system performance, and coordinate with private and government test ranges for system evaluation.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, robotics, or related technical field (or equivalent autonomous systems testing experience); minimum 3 years of flight testing experience with emphasis on autonomous or remotely piloted systems; demonstrated ability to develop and execute test plans for complex systems within aggressive timelines; familiarity with mission autonomy principles and unmanned systems integration; strong analytical skills; proven collaboration with multidisciplinary teams; excellent communication abilities; willingness to travel to testing locations; and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret-Level security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include direct experience developing, testing, and deploying mission autonomy systems in defense or aerospace contexts; hands-on experience with simulation environments and tools; familiarity with software development practices and programming languages (Python, C++, ROS); and knowledge of industry and military standards for unmanned aerial systems.
