Mercury is a fintech platform providing banking, treasury, and financial workflow solutions for startups and technology companies. The Financial Data Reconciliation team ensures end-to-end tracking of transactions across partner banks and internal systems, protecting customer funds through rigorous reconciliation.
As a Senior Financial Data Reconciliation Analyst, you will lead operationalization, standardization, and scaling of reconciliation across Mercury's banking partners and internal systems. You'll own the design and implementation of end-to-end reconciliations for new and existing products, setting standards for other analysts to build against. Your responsibilities include developing and maintaining data transformations, enrichment logic, and matching rules that support accurate and scalable reconciliation across internal and external systems.
You will monitor and investigate reconciliation exceptions, leading root-cause analysis and coordinating with Product, Engineering, Finance, and banking partners to resolve complex breaks and implement durable fixes. You'll build monitoring, alerting, and reporting that surface reconciliation risks, trends, and improvement opportunities across the team's portfolio. As a senior member, you'll define reconciliation requirements and technical specifications for new products and funds flows, partnering with Product, Engineering, Data, and Finance early in the design process.
You'll partner with Accounting to support month-end close and audit readiness by preparing timely reconciliation analyses, summaries, and supporting documentation. You'll shape and execute the reconciliation control roadmap, leading cross-functional initiatives and representing the Reconciliation team's perspective as product coverage and operational complexity grow. Mentoring other analysts through hands-on coaching is a key part of the role, helping them strengthen their technical and investigative skills.
Required qualifications include 6+ years of experience working with complex transactional and financial data in fintech or financial services, including reconciliation, settlement, payment operations, and accounting. You need working knowledge of banking payment rails and card networks (ACH, wire transfers, RTP, FedNow, Visa, Mastercard), understanding transaction flows, clearing, settlement, returns, and exception handling. Advanced SQL skills and hands-on experience developing and maintaining data transformation pipelines (dbt or similar) are essential. You should have strong analytical skills with a background investigating and resolving complex financial data discrepancies, familiarity with enterprise reconciliation tools (Blackline or similar), and experience building monitoring or BI dashboards using tools like Omni, Looker, or Tableau. A track record of leading cross-functional initiatives, mentoring analysts, and supporting audits or regulatory reporting is expected.
