Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Senior Explosives Operations Engineer to join its Explosives Engineering & Operations group in Costa Mesa, California. This role supports the safe development, testing, and fielding of explosive systems across Anduril's product portfolio, including Roadrunner, Bolt, Barracuda, Altius, and Copperhead—all powered by Lattice OS, an AI-driven command and control platform.
You will own meaningful responsibility at the intersection of hands-on explosives operations, safety, compliance, and mission execution. Rather than working in a narrow design-only capacity, you will enable explosive systems to transition from development through testing to field support by building safe, compliant, and executable operations that serve real products and real customer needs.
Key responsibilities include planning and executing explosives operations across lab, test, and field environments; supporting range safety activities; conducting site laydowns, blast and fragmentation analysis, and quantity-distance evaluations; reviewing and enforcing safety procedures; ensuring compliance with DoD, ATF/ATFE, DOT, OSHA, and internal requirements; serving as a subject matter expert on explosives handling and safety; overseeing explosives storage, inventory, security, and inspections; improving operations and training programs; and training personnel on safe handling and execution.
You will partner closely with engineering, manufacturing, program teams, legal, finance, business development, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate product and customer requirements into operational plans supporting systems deployed across land, sea, and air domains. This role offers the opportunity to strengthen explosives operations as the business scales, increase operational velocity without compromising compliance, and help translate complex mission needs into real-world execution that advances Anduril's defense technology capabilities.
Required: 4+ years of progressive experience in explosives operations, including practical hands-on experience with explosives safety, storage, transportation, and test or field execution; working knowledge of the regulatory environment surrounding explosives and energetic materials; and demonstrated ability to work effectively in operational, test, range, or field environments.
