Convene is opening a new 54,000-square-foot events venue at One Rathbone Square in London's West End in Spring 2027, designed as a premier destination for conferences, brand showcases, luxury receptions, and bespoke gatherings. The venue combines signature hospitality with industry-leading production capabilities and advanced technology for immersive experiences.
As Senior Event Production Manager, you will lead the Events Team and oversee the planning and execution of events across physical, hybrid, and virtual formats. You will serve as the primary client liaison throughout the planning process, ensuring seamless coordination between clients and internal teams across logistics, technical production, catering, and on-site operations.
Key responsibilities include:
**Team Leadership & Management:** Lead and manage the Events Team with effective staff scheduling and resource allocation. Conduct biannual appraisals and regular one-to-one meetings with direct reports, providing training and professional development. Ensure team adherence to company policies, health & safety compliance, and service delivery standards. Oversee performance management, probation reviews, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary procedures. Foster cross-functional collaboration with Sales and Operations.
**Events Planning & Coordination:** Oversee planning and execution of events in all formats. Act as main client liaison during planning, ensuring clear communication and alignment with requirements. Develop detailed event documentation including Programme Execution Orders (PEOs), room layouts, timelines, and deliverables. Conduct client kick-off meetings and collaborate with AV production, catering, and operations teams. Manage client expectations and work with Product and Design teams on platform improvements. Facilitate pre- and post-event debriefs for continuous improvement.
**Operational Excellence:** Support Sales Team with pre-sales activities, advising on event feasibility, logistics, and timelines. Assist in creating event proposals and pre-sales materials. Oversee event budget management, cost calculations, approvals, and invoicing. Supervise on-site operations, ensuring smooth execution and real-time problem resolution. Ensure adherence to company service standards and hospitality protocols. Lead weekly event meetings and PEO discussions.
**Requirements:**
Essential:
- Extensive experience in event planning and production, with strong background in physical, hybrid, and virtual event formats
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Strong organisational and project management skills with ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
- Excellent client relationship management and communication skills
- Knowledge of AV production, catering logistics, and event operations
- Proficiency in event management software and project management tools
- 3-5 years experience in large-scale corporate event planning with experience managing complex social and experiential events
Desirable:
- Familiarity with virtual event platforms and livestream production
- Budget management experience within an events setting
